Blanche McGhie died on December 17, 2008 from Alzheimer's Disease and was joyously welcomed home by her husband Farrell and son Alan. She resided at 960 South Donner Way (2985 East) in the Foothill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death.


She was born January 13, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Florence Taylor and William Murphy, graduated from East High School and married Farrell McGhie in the Salt Lake Temple in 1942. They lived in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Stanford, Calif., retiring to Salt Lake in 1980.


They served a mission for the LDS Church in Kenya, as docents at the LDS Church Museum of History and Art for over 20 years, as missionaries in Palo Alto and Salt Lake, and as Oakland Temple workers. Blanche was a Temple Square Garden guide, condo pres., Primary and Relief Society pres. and RS Stake counselor. She was an example of faithful love and service to all who knew her. She was known for her homemade bread, cooking, acts of kindness, sewing, family histories, traveling, gardening, loving music and being a super grandma!


She was very proud of children Dennis (Lee Jordan/ Portland), Joanne (David Aplanalp/ Oakley) and David (Leslie Levine/ Sacramento) plus grandchildren Jake, Sam, Ben, Drew, Erica and Patrick, and great-grandchildren Raegan, Logan and Brielle. Preceded in death by husband Farrell, son Alan, and siblings Lucile Cederlof, Wilma Finch, Larry, Taylor and Ethel Murphy.


All Services will be held at the Monument Park LDS Ward Building located at 2795 East Crestview Drive (900 South) on Saturday, December 27, 2008. Viewing from 11-12:45, Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m
Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
