Topeka State Journal Wednesday 27 December, 1972, pg. 18:

OSAGE CITY - Services will be Thursday at the United Methodist Church here for David M. "Dave" Gardner, 70, Osage City, who died Monday at his home a mile south of here. He had cancer. He was born Jan. 14, 1902 in the Olivet community in Osage County and lived a mile south of Osage City 52 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was a truck gardner many years before he retired. He was married to Gertrude M. Mainwaring July 15, 1920 at Emporia. They operated Gert's Dairy Treat, an ice cream restaurant, at Osage City for 17 years. She survives.

Other survivors include 5 daughters, Mrs. Mildred Virginia Gifford, Topeka, Mrs. Wilma Lavone Yokes, Meadville, Pa., Mrs. Rachel Davine Stephenson, Overland Park, Ks., Mrs. Audrey Boneva Lohmeyer, Osage City, and Mrs. Frances Verryile Gust, Leisure City, Fla.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Bessie Nelson, Osage City, and Mrs. Gwen Wheat, Topeka; a brother, Albert Gardner, Woodward, Okla; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery. McElfresh Mortuary at Osage City is in charge of arrangements.
