The death occurred suddenly of Friday afternoon of a very highly respected resident, Mr Francis O'Loughlin, of Fox street, Woodville. The deceased gentleman, who was 73 years of age, was a native of Dunedin and he subsequently lived in Oamaru for a lengthy period. He removed to the North Island 45 years ago, settling at Marton (where he joined the Order of Foresters). He was afterwards engaged in farming at Mauriceville, Carterton, Masterton and Papatawa, retiring to Woodville 13 years ago. He was very well liked by all who knew him. Mr O'Loughlin is survived by his widow.

The Funeral of the late Mr F. O'Loughlin, of Woodville, took place on Saturday afternoon, numerous old friends paying their tribute of respect. Mr O'Loughlin worked for Mr Robert Wilson, on Heaton Park Estate, at Marton, over forty years ago. He was one of the oldest members of Court Little John, A.O.F., Marton and was accorded a Foresters funeral service at the graveside, which was read by Secretary L. McIndoe, P.C.R. Rev. J. H. Boyd (St David's Presbyterian Church) officiated at the house and the graveside. The pall-bearers were four members of the Court Loyal Woodville, C. Hares, C. Ware, A. Beattie, Collins and Bros G. Grey, C.R., and Secretary L. McIndoe, P.C.R., of Court Little John. Treasurer H. C. Gronn, P.C.R. also represented the Court. There were several floral emblems.
