After his first wife died, Mary Cottrell Wagnon, family most likely placed a grave stone next to hers in Zion Cemetery , expecting William to be buried next to her, however, William married Mrs. Maggie Gertrude (Elliott}, Jones,Courtney in 1904 and outlived her as well. He either checked into or was placed by family members, in the Confederate Soldiers Home and was buried in the State Cemetery in Austin.
