Mr. Reynolds died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Dr. S.R. and Marie Kauss Reynolds. He grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Wyandotte High School before moving to Lawrence to farm the land his grandfather Samuel Reynolds pre-empted in 1855.
Mr. Reynolds served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He established an industrial machine shop, Rey/Mac Inc., south of Lawrence, and was a mason and involved as a volunteer in renovating the berm landscaping at the First Baptist Church.
He married Irene Shull on July 21, 1957, in Fernald, Iowa. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Kevin M. and wife Lori, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Helen R. Bennett and husband Randall, Lawrence; a brother, Don R. and wife Phyllis, Lawrence; a sister, Wilma Meseraull, Lawrence; and three granddaughters, Olivia and Brianna Reynolds and Malorie Shanahan.
