Deceased Name: B. Kent Carter

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bryan Kent Carter, 68, passed away December 12, 1997 at Lakeview Hospital of complications of asthma and cardiac arrest.

He was born August 28, 1929 in Brigham City, UT, to Gordon Ray and Mary Eldora Hirschi Carter. He grew up in Park Valley, UT, where he learned how to work and play hard. He graduated from Box Elder High School. He married Alfa Jean Carter on October 3, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and served as a Missionary in the Northern California Mission from 1950-1952. Dad attended Utah State University majoring in Engineering, then completed an apprenticeship in carpentry. He worked in the Construction trade for 43 years, excelling in his field of work, receiving prestigious awards including the Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association's "Excellence in the Use of Concrete" award, and the Associated General Contractors "Superintendent of the Year" award for the year of 1991. To Dad, out of all of his accomplishments in construction, being the Project Manager of the Seattle LDS Temple was the pinnacle of his career. He retired from Jacobsen Construction Co. in 1995.

Dad loved the gospel and was a wonderful missionary and teacher. He held many leadership positions in the LDS Church including Elders Quorum pres., stake Sunday School presidency, Young Men's presidency, and ward clerk. At the time of his death he was serving with Mom as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful LDS Temple. He loved to fish, hunt, and play golf and taught his children and grandchildren to love the outdoors and was an avid sports fan.

His greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Alfa Jean; his children, Carla (Wiley) Cragun, of Santiago, Chile; Kathleen (Rick) Mark, of South Weber; Cynthia (David) Green, of Sandy; Bryan Kay (Lana Jean) Carter, of Kaysville; Alyson (Scott) Smith, of Kirkland WA; Reed Martin (Corrie Ann) Carter, of Layton; 29 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
