Mr. Klapperich, 93, of Stacyville, Iowa, died Wednesday (Dec. 17, 2008) at Osage (Iowa) Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Lawrence William Klapperich was born July 23, 1915, at home in Meyer. He attended school in Meyer, then served in the Army from April 1941 to November 1945. On Jan. 23, 1946, he married Esther Halbach at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville.
Mr. Klapperich farmed many years and was also employed as a salesman for Theobald Implement in Stacyville. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Hale Penney Fuller American Legion Post 569 of Stacyville.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Owen (Linda) and Reid (Barbara); two daughters, Rosalie (David) Schubert and Dorette (Leonard) Fravel; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norbert and Carl, both of Stacyville; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth of Greendale, Wis. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy in infancy, and Julie; a son, Barry; his parents, Bernard and Rosa Klapperich; five brothers, John, Isidor, Fred, Leo and Wilfred; and a sister, Hildegarde Halbach.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the church in Meyer, with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
