Her obituray published on 18 March 2008 in the Calgary Herald reads as follows: "UMBACH - Lillian Frances (nee Faulkes) July 20, 1916 - March 14, 2008 Dearly loved sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on Friday, March 14, 2008. Lillian was born in Fort Macleod, AB and grew up on the family farm. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Lorne; sisters Grace and Kathryn; and brother Charles. She is survived by her sister Marion Lennox; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian worked for Canada Safeway for many years. Lil and Lorne lived in and supported the West Hillhurst Community and were well known for their large vegetable garden and pet cats. Their real love was camping and fishing in the mountains of Alberta and B.C. We would like to thank the staff of the Bethany Calgary for their care and support; Lil's home since a stroke in 1993. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Heritage Funeral Home (across from the North Hill Shopping Centre), 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W., on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association."
