Born in northern Italy in 1886, she was born in the village of Rango located along the southern range of the Alps Mountain Range near the city of Bleggio Superiore in the province of Trento in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige. At the time of her birth, the Italian village was in a province that was part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Palma Fenice emigrated to America in 1901 when she was 15 years old. She married Silvio "Sam" Buganza around 1902 and settled in Elk County, Pennsylvania. Together, they had nine children: Donoto(Pete), Alex(Bob), Neal, Leo, Mary, Joe, Theresa, Clara JoAnn(Dola), and Carolina(Ida). During the winter of 1919-1920, she went to assist her neighbors and friends, the Procter family, while many of them were ill with pneumonia. Palma then became ill herself and died in early 1920.
