John Edward "Ed" Cline was born in Missouri in 1884. He was the son of Daniel Allen and Sarah J. Wells. They were also born in Missouri. Ed, as he was known, was one of eleven children.

Ed's paternal grandparents were Daniel Uriah and Dorcus Harris Sheppard Cline, both of whom were born in North Carolina. His maternal grandparents are unknown.

The Cline family moved to Johnson County, Arkansas sometime between 1884 and 1887. They're listed on the 1900 census in the north & west part of Spadra Township of Johnson County.

On December 18, 1904, John Edward Cline and Della Nevada Campbell were wed. Della was the daughter of John Allen and Margaret Elizabeth "Bette" Campbell of the Harmony, Arkansas community. Ed and Della were blessed with six children...four boys and two girls. A complete listing of those children can be found on Della's Find a Grave page.

Ed and Della enjoyed country living during their early years of marriage. As an occupation, Ed did general farming and Della was a homemaker. Upon retirement, they moved to Clarksville, Arkansas and gave up the country life.

Ed enjoyed people and having family and friends around him. When television first came out, he and Della were among the first on the street to have a tv set. He always wanted his family, friends, and neighbors to come to his house on Friday nights to watch the boxing matches and situation comedys on tv. The Life of Riley was among Ed's favorites.

The Cline's were members and attended the Presbyterian Church in Clarksville.

Ed passed away in 1967 and was laid to rest in the Kendall Cemetery close to the place where his parents were buried.
