Bertha Louise Adkins, 83, of Newbern, died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Methodist Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital.

She was a retired public school teacher and a member of RoEllen Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Waymon Hogue officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home.

Survivors include a cousin who cared for her, Brenda Combs of Newbern. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Adkins.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Combs, Tom Combs, Brandon Combs, Scott Hughes, Rick Evans and Roger Gourley.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
