Mr. Knarr began his local teaching career in 1960 when he was hired as science and driver's education teacher and asistant basketball coach at Charlottesville schools.
He earned a master's degree in school administration from Ball State University.
Mr. Knarr was a member of National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Principal Academy, North Central Accreditation and Steering Committee, Indiana Principal Leadership Academy, Indiana High School Athletic Association, board member of Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame, board member of Dollars for Scholars, Indiana High School Coaches Association, honorary chapter of Future Farmers of America, Indiana State Teachers Association, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, selection board of Earl J. Brooks Scholarship Trust Fund and Hancock county Board of Realtors. He was associated with Don Fredrick Real Estate, Shirley.
