Peacefully and quietly at 12:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, November 22, 1929, Mrs. John S. O'Brien sank into eternal rest at her home on the North Racket Road. She had been a patient sufferer from heart disease with complications for the past three years and during that time the cheerfulness, endurance, devotion to her family and bright smile which had characterized her whole life, continued to the consolation of her family and many friends who visited her daily.
Julia Ann Barry was born August 16, 1855, at Louisville, a daughter of John and Margaret Clemens Barry, both of whom were natives of Ireland. Her early life was spent there and on January 1, 1882 she was married to John S. O'Brien, also of Louisville, at Massena by the Rev. Father Kelleher. After three years of residence in Louisville they moved to their home in Massena where they have since lived.
Surviving are her husband, one son, William J. who resides at home and three daughters, Mrs. James Brennan of Brownville, Mrs. Charles McHenry of Altmar, and Mrs. John Schaefer of New York City, also seven grandchildren. Her four brothers of a family of thirteen children are still living, Joseph Barry of Massena, William Barry of Felton, MN, John Barry of Baker, MN and Henry Barry of South Dakota.
