Rex Armstrong, 86, of Wichita KS, died Wednesday, June 11 2003. Rex Armstrong was born March 9 1917 in Powell MO to the late Jasper and Ella (Spurlock) Armstrong.

He moved to Wichita in 1971 from Pineville MO. He was in the Anderson National Guard for six years. Mr. Armstrong worked for Boeing Aircraft for 35 years as a line supervisor. He retired in 1982. He was a Mason in Wichita
Lodge #99.

Mr. Armstrong married Annis Jean Johnson May 28 1938, in Neosho MO. She survives.

He was preceded in death by daughter Joyce D. Armstrong.

Survivors include son Gary R. Armstrong of Lindsborg KS; three granddaughters, Audrey Riggs of Houston TX, Marie L. Armstrong of Dallas TX, and Ashley Hale of Cunningham TX; two great-granddaughters; one niece, Judy Vattilan of Wichita; and two nephews, Tom Planchon of Enterprise AL, and Peter Planchon of Mooresville NC.

Funeral services for Rex Armstrong will be held Tuesday, June 17 2003, at 10am at the Baptist Church in Pineville MO. The Rev. Frank Crosby will officiate. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery in Anderson MO. Pallbearers will be Jim Armstrong, Mark Armstrong, Steve Armstrong, John Jones, Lewis Skelton and Joe Vansandt. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Dennis and Morris Tinsley. Visitation was held Saturday, June 14 2003, at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East in Wichita, where the family received friends. A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita KS 67202.
