Marilla (Turner)Marks-Hutchins-Hills;

Marilla was the daughter of Daniel Turner and Jerusha Turrell (or Terrell. She married Rev. David Marks, 20 Sep 1829, a FreeWill Bapt. minister (1805-1840). They were involved in evangelizing, book publishing, and many works of the church. She was elected treasurer of the Woman's Mission Society in 1848, and after the office of the treasurer was disolved she became the corresponding secretary and remained such till the society disolved.
She edited, and had published a Memoirs of David Marks, in 1846, taken from his diary and journals. She and her husband adopted and raised a niece, Julia Marks. Rev. David Marks died at age 44 in Oberlin, Ohio, where he is buried in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin. Marilla and her husband were both active in the abolition causes at the Oberlin College.
Marilla then married another esteemed FWB minister, Rev. Elias Hutchins, 26 Dec. 1846, a widower, in NH, where he pastored the Washington Street church in Dover. This union was not to endure for long as Rev. Hutchins' health failed in a few years and he died Sept. 11, 1859.
Marilla then married Mr. Hills, who preceded her in death. She continued to live in Dover to the age of 93, a respected and beloved Free Will Baptist church woman.
