Bill lived in the New Virginia area his entire life. He graduated from the New Virginia High School and started working at Iowa Packing Company in Des Moines. He met and married Katharine Goering on December 29, 1956. When Iowa Pack closed its doors, Bill worked at Valley High School in West Des Moines as a custodian, working there until his health prevented it.
Bill and Katharine lived east of New Virginia on a farm for 37 years moving into New Virginia in 1992. Bill helped with the Tri-Corner paper and served on the zoning board for New Virginia. His many hobbies were cooking, grilling, gardening and playing cards - four and ten point pitch with family and friends. He watched sports on TV especially basketball and enjoyed the Hawks and Cyclones. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he treasured the time spent with them.
He will be missed by his wife Katharine; daughter, Debbie (Ronald) Gebhardt of Van Meter and son Dennis Kimzey of New Virginia; his grandchildren Amanda and Travis Gebhardt of Van Meter; brother Bob (Millie) Kimzey; sister Janice (John) Caudle; and also by family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Edna Kimzey; sister, Joyce Benge and brother Max Kimzey.
