Lelia Eaton, former resident of Athens, died on Dec. 14, in Kingsville. Lelia was born Jan. 3, 1907, in Navarro County, to E.R. and Mamie Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Eaton, who founded and owned Eaton Motor Company. Lelia and Jack eloped to Athens in 1934 and were married in the Methodist church here. Years later they returned to make Athens their home.While in Athens, Lelia was an active member of the Central Baptist Church and a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She touched many lives with her generous, caring love of God and her fellowman.In her late 70's she moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to pursue a career in care-giving. She retired at age 90 to live near her family in South Texas. Her 102 years were blessed and fruitful and those who knew her will always hold her memory close to heart. She is survived by her only child, Pamela Eaton Douglas, of Kingsville; her grandsons Drew Douglas and wife Lori, of Athens; David Douglas and wife Patience, of Kingsville; and four great grandchildren, Jessica Douglas, of Fort Worth; Joseph Douglas, of Waco; Hunter Douglas and Fischer Douglas, both of Kingsville.Graveside services will be held at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Athens on Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. Services are under the direction of Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home.
