A lifelong area resident, he was born Sept. 28, 1921 in the Town of Ellington, son of the late Frank and Gertrude Anderson Kofod.
Maurice was a graduate of Ellington High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1942 to 1953 during World War II and the Korean War. He along with his wife Evelyn owned and operated a dairy farm in Sinclairville, retiring in 1983. In earlier years, he had also been employed by M.R.C. and Hanson Tool.
He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn M. Butler Kofod, whom he married May 5, 1945: four sons: Kenneth J. (Janet) Kofod of Brockport, N.Y., Karl F. (Eileen) Kofod of Hamburg, N.Y., Kirk S. (Sue) Kofod of Amherst and Craig A. (Becky) Kofod of Sinclairville; a daughter, Kristin A. (Bob) Asel of Jamestown; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
