Bryan Democrat April 18, 1932
Surnames: Michaels, Page, Thorpe, Hopkins, Green
Mrs. Elizabeth Cecelia Michaels was born February 12, 1856 at the country home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Page, 3 ½ miles west of Montpelier, and passed away at her home on Budlong street, Hillsdale, Mich., Monday evening, April 4, 1932. She was married to Samuel A. Michaels at the home of her parents, Oct. 29, 1876 by Rev. E. S. Dunham of the Methodist Episcopal church of which she has been a member since girlhood. The first baby, Earl Michaels, was born August 8, 1879 and died two years later, Aug. 11, 1881. Prior to their coming to Hillsdale 14 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Michaels lived in Bryan. Three daughters, Mrs. L. Dean Thorpe, Mrs. H. Dana Hopkins and Mrs. Merritt Green and five grandchildren, Margaret, Robert and Richard Hopkins of Tiffin, O., and Page and Billy Green of Hillsdale, are left to mourn the loss of a most beloved mother and grandmother.
Oct. 29, 1932 would have marked the 56th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Michaels, a symbol that shines like sunshine on the grave, for it was "a love that life could never tire, death quench nor evil stir."
