Professional Football Player. A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, he played at the halfback, quarterback and punter positions for twelve seasons (1942 to 1952, 1955) in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Flying Wildcats and Toronto Argonauts. He was a member of six Grey Cup championship teams (1943 Flying Wildcats, 1945 to 1947, 1950, 1952 Argonauts). Along with teammate Royal Copeland, they formed a powerful offensive combination with Toronto and were referred to as the "Gold Dust Twins". Krol's other notable career highlights include Jeff Russel Memorial Trophy winner (1946), Lou Marsh Trophy honors (1946), Canadian Male Athlete of the Year (1946, 1947) and All-Eastern Running Back selection. In addition, he appeared in two games at the punter position in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions during the 1945 season. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1963 and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1975.
