Valeria Iona Gaines, a Stroud resident, was born on August 15, 1914 in Key West, Oklahoma and departed this life in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the age of 92 years.
Valeria was the daughter of W. R. and Alice Brooks Yeldell.
She was a resident of Stroud all of her life and a member of the Glorious Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Stroud, Oklahoma.
She worked as a Teacher's Aide for Stroud Elementary School.
Valeria married Willie C. Gaines in Stroud, Oklahoma in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one brother, five sisters and two grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Mickey Gaines of Stroud, Oklahoma, four daughters, Vella Peters of Dallas, Texas, Lorretta Moore of Dallas, Texas, Alice White of Dallas, Texas and Willie C. Gaines of Dallas, Texas, one sister, Elisabeth Strong of Los Angeles, California, twenty seven grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and other relatives and friends.
