Confederate Soldier, Pvt. Company D 54th Alabama Regiment Infantry (Pvt. JW Hightower was captured at Island Ten April 8, 1862 and sent to Camp Douglas, Illnois, exchanged and sent to Vicksburg, MS September 20, 1862, he became sick while at Camp Douglas, Illinois and was sent home from Vicksburg, MS., he made his way alway to Montgomery where he died.
