MILITARY Civil War 1861-1865 Cited in Barton Roll of Honor, compiled by Carl James Barton, first Ed. 2001 "CSA. Enlisted on 12 July 1862 in Buchaman, Texas at the age of 22 for a term of three years. He traveled 65 miles to enlist and his horse was valued at $200.00 and equipment at $30.00 Served as a Private in Captain Samuel Caruther's Company, 1st Regiment Texas Partisans, which later became Company E, 30th Texas Calvary, AKA Gurley's Regiment Partisan Rangers.
