Ken Rawls, 65, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Gerald Petsch, Lutheran minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery, Field of Valor. Military honors will be by DAV Chapter 26.

Mr. Rawls was born June 29, 1943, in Amherst to O'Dell and Dora L. Harper Rawls. He was raised in Estelline.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Galveston. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Mr. Rawls began his career as a welder.

He worked as a welder for more than 30 years and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local No. 196.

Mr. Rawls loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and stepfather. He married Madeline on Feb. 14, 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bobby Rawls.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debrah Navarrete, Melissa Contreras and Kennita Mays and husband James, all of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Julia Kelley and husband Denny of Fritch; two stepsons, Joshua Galvin and wife Crystal of Seminole and John Galvin and wife Amy of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Larry Rawls of Hamlin; and 16 grandchildren.
