Emilie, aka Amelia, was the daughter of Frederick and Henrietta Dunzlak Pommeraining. She married Wilhelm Frederick Ferdinand Pupp, a carpenter, in Germany about 1872. By the time the couple migrated to the USA their family had eight children, five of them living. They embarked on the SS Aller from Bremen, Wilhelm, wife Emilie pregnant and their children, Auguste, Wilhelmina, Wilhelm Jr, Emilie, and 11 month old Helene. During the trip across the Atlantic Emilie gave birth to twins both of which died and were buried at sea. The grieving family arrived in New York on May 28, 1887 and made their way to Rochester, NY where youngest daughter Mary was born in 1888. The family moved to Marathon County, WI late in the century and farmed there until their deaths.
