CARL HALLER IS CALLED
YOUNG MAN IN THE MORNING OF LIFE IS STRICKEN BY DEATH.
BOY WITH A CHEERY SMILE
Will Be Greatly Missed by Those Who Knew Him.- Funeral Is Monday

Died, last evening at 10:30 o'clock, Carl Haller, aged 17 years and some months. Charles was the second son and the fourth child of Mr. And Mrs. Andrew Haller, who reside at 902 Scott street, in this city. Death was due to peritonitis resultant appendicitis from which he has been ill about two weeks. The postmortem held this morning by Dr. Coolige, the physician in charge of the case and Dr. Amos, indicated that the appendix had been perforated early in the sickness and that peritonitis had resulted.

Carl Haller was known to most of the residents of Charles City, from the fact of his connection with the vegetable business conducted by David Kitcherer, by whom he has been employed for several years. Carl was not only a faithful and trusted employee but he was at all times a helpful and painstaking assistant. In all the work given him to do he did it to the best of his ability, whether it was in the field or in delivering the product of the farm to patrons. He was uniformly kind and courteous alike to his employer and to patrons. The death of Charley Haller will be regretted in every home in his city where his cheery smile and kindly greeting brought many a ray of sunshine.

His illness last practically two weeks, a medical attendant having been called about ten days ago, when Dr. Coolidge took charge of the case. Dr. Coolidge found the case in an advanced stage but did all that medical skill could devise to save the life of this young patient. Several physicians of the city were called in consultation but all their skill availed nothing, death ensuing last evening as stated.

Carl Haller was one of the seven children born to Mr. And Mrs. Haller, all of whom reside at home, except Mrs. Baxter Newton, who with her husband is a member of the Angell Comedy company and a brother Warren Haller, who resides in the state of Washington.

Funeral Monday* afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house at 2:30 at the Lutheran church. Rev. Caselmann will preach in English.
