Mr. Amidon came here to live nearly 50 years ago, married a Burke girl, Olive Kibby, and after one year's residence in Marshfield returned here and lived on the farm on Bemis Hill now owned by the Darlings and occupied by J. Nagle. Their eight children were born there, four of whom have died. Mrs. Amidon died nearly three years ago. The children now living are O.C. Amidon of St. Johnsbury, Abial, Belle, Mrs. George Willis [sic, s.b. Wildes] of Belmont, N.H., and Mrs. Jennie Cameron of this village. Mr. Amidon will be remembered by many as a teacher of vocal music and a fine tenor singer in his younger days. He was 72 years of age at the time of his death.
The bearers were his two sons O.C. and Abial and two sons-in-law Harris Jenkins and George Willis [sic, s.b. Wildes]. [The St. Johnsbury Caledonian, St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Wed., August 2, 1899, p.6]
