Ione was the daughter of Charles Webster and Sarah Ann Scranton. She married Manley Turner on April 7, 1874. They were the parents of Fred, Charlie, and Alice.


April 8, 1936 - Carroll Daily Herald - Glidden - Mrs. Ione Turner, one of the town's oldest residents, passed away at 11 o'clock Tuesday night at her home in Glidden. She had been in failing health for the past year and had been bedfast the last three weeks.

Her daughter, Mrs. R.I. Mace made her home with Mrs. Turner and assisted in caring for her. Death was attributed to old age.

A resident of Carroll county since 1880, Mrs. Turner spent her early childhood in Connecticut and Illinois. She was born at Hartford, Conn., on May 25, 1851, the daughter of Charles and Sarah Webster. At the age of two years she accompanied her parents to Sterling, Illinois, and when she was thirteen years old they came to Tama county, Ia.

In 1875 she became the bride of Manley Turner at Traer, Ia. They lived there five years and then came to Carroll county, locating on a farm southeast of Glidden. They moved to town about 30 years ago. Her husband passed
away in August, 1918.

Survivors include two sons, Fred of Rippey, Ia., and Charles of California, and one daughter, Mrs. R.I. Mace, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services have not been completed. Mrs. Turner attended the Presbyterian church.
