This is from the solid research of Marlo K. Schermerhorn on the Sebastian Shoup line:
Godfrey Knepper b ca 1762, d ca 1841 probably Cambria County PA; m1 Catharine/"Betsy" Stoler [1767-1791] and had issue: John 1788, Paulina/Polly ca 1790 and Elizabeth/Betsy ca 1791. Godfrey m2 Mary Shoup b ca 1769 probably in Frederick now Washington Co MD, d after 1830 probably Summerhill Tp Cambria Co PA, and they had issue: Abraham 1792-1872, Margaret ca 1794, Susanna ca 1800, Joseph ca 1801, Eva ca 1803, William ca 1804-1883, Anna ca 1810. Godfrey Knepper was the son of Gottfried Knepper and ___ Frey. He moved from Bedford Co PA to Cambria Co where he appears in the US Census of 1810, 1820 and 1830. In the PA 1790 census he is listed as Godfray Niper.

John Sebastian Shoup, son of Sebastian and Elspeth, d 1793 Saxton, Bedford Co PA. He married Margit/Margaret/Nellie Tegard and their children included: "JOSEPH WHO MARRIED MARY MAGDALENA DILTS"; Henry who m Barbara Fluke/Fluck1795; Abraham who m Elizabeth McElwaine by April 1802; Mary who m Godfrey Knepper ca 1791 Old Bedford Co PA; Susannah who m Daniel Fetter[s]; Catharine who m Robert Elder ca 1791; Margaret/Margit who m Lawrence Swartz ca 1786 probably Bedford Co PA; and Eve/Evy who m Andrew McCoy.

The senior Sebastian Shoup was baptized 1704 Canton Basel, Sissach, Switzerland and d ca 1767-68. He married Elspeth Tschudi 1733, probably in Switzerland, and they came to the USA on the ship Friendship in 1740, landing at Philadelphia 23 Sept and went to Frederick Co MD in what is now Washington Co MD. She was the dau of Hans Jacob Tschudi and Anna Rudin. He was the son of Hans Heinrich Shaub and Ursula Horand, Hans H. being a widower in 1738. See Faust and Brumbaugh's Lists of Swiss Emigrants in the 18th Century to the American Colonies. Sebastian and Elspeth had issue: Elizabeth bapt 1734; Hans Heinrich bapt 1735; Anna bapt 1739 Sissach; Sebastian who m Margit Teegard[en] and who d 1792-1793 Saxton, Bedford Co PA +Fockler's Cemetery; and maybe others. Any connection to the Jacob Shoup born ca 1745 in Frederick Co MD still needs proof.
