Buried at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. William Sherman Kidd was born in Owsley Co, KY, to Newton Gaston Kidd and Sarah Kager Burch. In the 1880 census, the family was separated. His father, Newton, was living with his older brother, Demarcus, listed by his middle name, Lafayette in De Kalb, Scott Co, VA. His mother, Sarah was living with her sister-in-law, Mary J Huff and family in Owsley Co, KY. With Sarah are the two youngest children, Sophie and Thomas. By 1900, Newton and Sarah are back together. Will, or Pop as he was known to his three daughters and grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a carpenter by trade. He also worked as a miner in KY and VA. He built an addition to the John Fox, Jr home in Big Stone Gap, Va, when John Jr married an Austrian Opera Singer, Fritzi, whom he met in NYC. Pop moved his wife and three daughters, Bessie Jane, Bertie Fredricka and Anise Pauline to Louisville, KY. There he worked as a carpenter, then the family moved to W Nebr Sandhills. Pop and Mother proved up on their homestead in Morrill Co, NE, sold it, bought a restuarant and hotel in Antioch, NE during the potash boom in WWI. When the war was over, they lost everything as the need for potash went bust. From there, Pop moved to Omaha, NE, for carpentry work. He and Mother, Mary L Dorton Kidd, lived out their final years with son-in-law and dtr, Bertie Kidd Snyder in Davenport, Scott Co, IA.
