Sherman D. Wilt of 708 Shand Ave., Lakemont, died at 5.05 a.m. today in Mercy Hospital, where he was admitted Jan. 27, after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, July 17, 1891, a son of Eli and Annie (Swonger) Wilt, and on Feb. 15, 1915, in Cumberland, Md., married Mildred Madilyn Stiffler, who died Jan. 22, 1947.
Surviving are six children, Doty L. of Columbus, Ohio, Kenneth O. of the city, Mrs. Betty Bowers of Erie, Mrs. Miriam Kinsel in New Jersey, Sherman G. and Mrs. Doris Eagan, at home; 15 grandchildren, two brothers and a sister, Charles of Hollidaysburg, Homer of Lakemont and Mrs. Emma Walters of Juniata.
He was a charter member of the Hollidaysburg Church of God, retired in 1957 as a trainman on the Middle Division and played in the Hollidaysburg band.
Friends will be received at the Plank Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, after 2 p.m. tomorrow.
