Virgil C. Woody, 70, Meta died Tuesday at the Phelps County Hospital, Rolla. He was born July 31, 1909, at Meta, the son of Fred and Unie Wilson Woody. His mother survives at Meta.
Mr. Woody, who farmed, was a lifelong resident of Meta and a member of the Campground Christian Church there.
Other survivors include a son, Darrel Gene Woody, St. Louis; a brother, Oscar Woody, Meta; three sisters, Mrs. Freda Seaton, Meta, Mrs. Aldine Barnhart, Barnett, and Mrs. Wanita Gautreau, Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 28, at the Campground Christian Church with the Rev. Earl Jones and the Rev. Shelby Barnhart officiating. Burial was at the Pendleton Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home, Meta.
