Frederick W. Gott, 86, a retired guard of the Michigan reformatory, died suddenly Sunday evening at 6:30 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. Clara Yeomans, State road, where he had lived for the past one and one-half years. Death was the result of a heart attack.

He was born February 26, 1858, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wells Gott, Easton township pioneers. His boyhood was spent in Easton, and on January 14, 1892, he was married to Miss May Little. The couple owned a store at Woods Corners for several years, later moving into Ionia where Mr. Gott was employed as a guard at the Michigan reformatory for over 30 years. Mrs. Gott died in 1936. Mr. Gott was a member of the Maccabees.

Surviving him is a daughter, Mrs. Clara Higley, of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clara Yeomans, of Ionia. Two daughters, Mrs. Victoria Kinney and Mrs. Bessie Harp, have preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Stone funeral home. Burial will be in Woodard Lake Cemetery.
