Irene M. Elder, 77, of Byron, Wyo., and formerly of Honolulu, who worked for Kahua Ranch Meats in Honolulu, died Saturday in Cody, Wyo. She is survived by daughters Ruthanne Creed, Nancy Naeole and Candy Clark; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services on the mainland.

Irene Marie Elder
March 7, 1921 -- July 18, 1998
Irene Marie Elder was called home by her Lord and Savior on July 18, 1998, after a long battle with lung disease.
She was the third child born to Minna Augusta Henke Umscheid and George Umscheid on March 7, 1921, in Quincy, Mass.
She married Kenneth T. Elder in May of 1941. They had three daughters, Mrs. Douglas Creed (Ruthanne) of Chesterton, Ind., Mrs. Clifford Naeole (Nancy) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Mrs. Bill Clark (Candy) of Byron. Kenneth preceded her in death in 1988.
Irene hand many interests and hobbies during her life. She loved her work for the Kahua Ranch Meats in Honolulu, retiring after 20 years and moving to Byron in 1984. She lived her cats, birds, flower gardening, and hand work. Many have afghans and wall hangings to remind them of her.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lovell.
She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and graveside services will be at the Byron Cemetery on August 3, 1998, at 4 p.m..
