JOHN FOLKERTS PASSES AWAY

John Folkerts was born on July 11, 1853 near Aurich, Germany. In 1877 he married Tatje Osterloh. This marriage was blessed with 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls. All living. In 1890 he moved his family to South Dakota and since then has lived in this vicinity. For the past six months he has been ailing and sometimes suffered severe pains. On Feburary 17, 1921 he died peaceably at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 6 days.

Mr. Folkerts was converted to God in 1894 and united with the Baptist church, of which he has since been a member. The funeral services were held Monday, February 21, at the Baptist church.

He leaves the following children to mourn his loss; Foley Folkerts of this place; Mrs. Albert Brown of Wessington Springs; Mrs, Abbo Schroeder, John F. Folkerts and Frank Folkerts of Chancellor; George Folkerts of Emery; Mrs. Johanna "Hanna" Osterloo of Wessington Springs; Mrs. Henry Dobrovolney of Emery, and William and H. Theodore Folkerts both of Emery, -- Emery Enterprise.

The deceased was quite well known to many of our people, as he has on many occasions visited the children here.

John 15 yrs, and his Mother (Wiebke Folkers) 56 yrs, came to the US on the Ship named; Bark Harzberg on 2 Oct 1868, arrived in the port of NY from Bremen, Germany, according to the ships manifest, then went to IL, according to the ships manifest.
