Mr. Tapp died in the Hopewell House Hospice Center in Portland on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005. He was 76.
Born in Vernonia on Dec. 19, 1929, he was the son of John Edgar and Bessie (Bergerson) Tapp.
He joined the Air Force in 1950 and married Dorothy Banke in 1951. They moved to Biloxi, Miss. while he was in the service.
The Couple moved to McMinnville in 1954. He built two homes, worked for Metropolitan Life for 18 years and managed apartments until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock collecting, camping and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is surveved by two son, John Steven of Tigard and Jeff W. of Oregon City; a daughter, Rita Huchendorf of McMinnville; two sisters, Martha Tapp of Tualatin and Mary McDonald of Sweet Home; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin and Charles.
