Joseph Fred and Gertrude moved
their family from Grayson Co to
Dinwiddie Co around 1918 on the
advise of his brother Aldine
Kieffer. He had told him about
all the flat fertile farm land
without rocks. Fred got busy and
built their first house. About
1928 that first house burned down
and Fred got busy again with his
family's help and built another
house where Jack and Patsy lived
in later on. It was said that they
lived in a barn that summer until
the new house was built.
In 1942 Joseph was employed with
Grannis Higgins Thompson McDevitt
Company during the construction of
Camp Pickett.
