Christopher Clay Brown, age 54, of Country Club Drive, Laurens, SC, died December 11, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Laurens, SC, and was the son of Claire D. Brown of Laurens, SC, and the late William J. Brown. Chris was a graduate of Laurens District 55 High School and attended Erskine College. He was a co-owner and partner of the Laurens County Advertiser along with his brothers, Marc and James. Chris was a member of Laurens First Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and also a Stephen Minister. He also served on the Board of Directors for Laurens County Habitat for Humanities as well as Straight Street Youth Ministry.

Chris is survived by his wife, Tami Smith Brown of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Claire Brown and Ashley Elizabeth Brown, both of the home; three brothers, Dr. Steffan C. Brown and wife, Debbie of Fresno, CA, and Marc D. Brown and James D. Brown and wife, Judith, all of Laurens, SC; several nieces and nephews, Alex Brown of Fresno, CA, Travis Brown of West Virginia, Tara Brown and son, Carson, Kathleen Brown, Emily Brown, Isaac Brown, Anna Brown, Terry Brown, and Gus Brown, all of Laurens, SC, Chuck Moore of Fletcher, NC, and Eddie Moore of Atlanta, GA.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Main St., Laurens, SC 29360 or the charity of one's choice.
