A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church for Sylvester ''Shorty'' Beko, who died Nov. 5 at 82.
Mr. Beko was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Halliday, N.D. He married Margaret Wollschlager in 1938. He lived in Gladstone for 55 years. He was a carpenter for 57 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the church.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Deanna M. Conner of Gladstone, Dolores McMullen of Seattle, Patricia Floyd and Mary Cooper, both of Portland, Virginia Bruck of Tigard, Margaret Lee of Oahu, Hawaii, and Teresa Busch of West Linn; sons, Robert and Joe, both of West Linn, Richard of Canby, Sylvester of Tualatin and Ken of Oregon City; sister, Pauline Sautner of Eugene; brother, Peter of Halliday; 26 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the church tuition program. Arrangements are by Cochran & Waud Sunset Chapel.
