Mr. Joseph graduated from the University of Delaware in 1942 and served as a Sergeant with the 1321st SVC Command Unit, U.S. Army for three years during World War II.

In his Scouting activities Mr. Joseph had served as district commissioner, scoutmaster, and, at the time of his death, was the Old Mill District camping commissioner.

In recent years he had become associated with the National Campers and Hikers Association, and was secretary of the the Delawanderers chapter.

Mr. Joseph was a lifelong, active member of Grace Methodist Church.

He resided at 405 Cedar Ave., Lyndalia, at the time of his passing. He died Tuesday after a heart attack at his office at Joseph Bancroft & Sons Co.
