Wasilla resident Christopher M. Larson, 46, died peacefully at his home May 26, 1999, after a short illness. A celebration of his life was held at the Anchorage Fire Department Union Hall, 1200 E. 76th Ave., No. 1227.

Mr. Larson was born Aug. 15, 1952 in Norristown, Pa. He graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1969 and later attended Pillsbury Baptist College. His family moved to Alaska in 1971, where he held numerous jobs until being hired by the Anchorage Fire Department in 1979. After fighting his first real fire, he said that he knew that his calling was to be a firefighter. He worked at the Eagle River Fire Station as an engineer for the last 6 years. In 1986 as acting captain at Station 6, he received a Unit Citation Award for a medical call he and his crew were called to. His family recalled that Chris enjoyed snowmachining, watercrafts and hunting and shooting sports, especially with his children. Bird hunting with Tara, his black Lab, and trips to South Dakota with the Coyote Club to hunt ducks and pheasants was another favorite hobby. He had a strong faith in God and family that was evident to all. He was always willing to help anyone who needed snowmachines, trucks, motorcycles, personal watercraft or computers fixed. Chris also worked part time at Eagle River Yamaha. He was a member of the IAFF Local 1264.

Surviving are his father and mother, Drexel and Laurabelle Larson; sons, Christopher Jr. and Nicholas; daughter, Tiffany; brothers, Alan of Talkeetna, Drexel, Brian, Wesley and David, all of Anchorage; and sisters, Maryann of Oregon, and Melanie and Brenda, both of Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations to the Firefighter Benevolent Fund, c/o IAF, 1200 E. 76th Ave., No. 1227, Anchorage, 99518.
