Grace Mary Speer, 43, had been in poor health


Grace Mary Speer, 43, of North Vernon died at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at the Indiana Heart Hospital at Indianapolis. She had been in poor health for a number of years, but her death was unexpected.


Funeral service will be at noon Friday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. on Friday until the service.


Mrs. Speer was a homemaker and enjoyed her pets.


Born at Seymour on July 21, 1965, she was the daughter of Arthur and Wilma Davis Wilcoxen. She joined the family of William and Dixie Gerhard of Scipio 31 years ago. They survive.


Other survivors are two daughters, Codie Lee and Cassandra Ray Speer of North Vernon; three brothers, Arthur Wilcoxen and Bud Couch of North Vernon and Jimmy Hollingsworth of Southport; and other siblings, Bethany Dawn Murphy of North Vernon, John Martin Gerhard of Southport, Evan Nathaniel Gerhard of New York, Shalom Moriah Drummond of Bloomington, Merrily Joy Bower of Clarksville and Chandan Gabriel Gerhard of Scipio.


Memorials may be made to the family.

Grace Mary Speer, 43, of North Vernon died Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, 2008, at Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.


The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. Mitch Coggin officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.


Memorials may be made through the funeral home.


Mrs. Speer is survived by her foster parents, William and Dixie Gerhard of Scipio; daughters, Codie Lee and Cassandra Ray Speer, both of North Vernon; brothers, Arthur Wilcoxen and Bud Couch of North Vernon and Jimmy Hollingsworth of Southport; and six foster brothers and sisters.
