Col. Reuben Arnold, C.S.A. and Lawyer was a native of Tennessee, who before the Civil War was a member of the Tennessee Bar. He served as a Colonel of the Tennessee Confederate Regiment in the Confederacy. At the close of the Civil War in 1865, he moved to Atlanta, where he continued the practice of law.

His first wife, Virginia Lowery, of Tennessee and who's father, William Moore Lowry at the close of the Civil War came to Atlanta to estabished the Lowry National Bank on 69 E. Alabama Street.
