An interment service to be attended by family members will be held at 1 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pat was born on Sept. 9, 1927, to William Arthur and Augusta (Stafford) Stearns very near the location of the present White River Dam. Her paternal grandfather L.A. Stearns was involved in the establishment of Motley County, Texas. Pat's maternal grandfather, W. R. Stafford, was involved in the establishment of Dickens County, Texas as well as Motley County, Texas. Pat had a lifelong interest and fascination in Texas history.
Strong were her love for family, First United Methodist Church, Homebuilders Sunday School Class, her church circle and Bible Study group. She served in many Church groups. Pat served for 15 years as the Church Receptionist, and personally knew many of the members of the church.
After graduating from West Texas State University, she was a Home Service Advisor with Southwestern Public Service. She conducted cooking schools in County Fairs in the South Plains during that time.
Survivors include her husband of 54 Years, L. E. (Earl) Crites; two sons, Gene and wife, Leta, of Lubbock; Tom and his wife, Ruby Anne, of Euless; five grandchildren, Krista Hayler and husband, Rich Hayler, of Southampton, England; Nicole Sharp and husband, Captain Grady Sharp (USMC) of Yuma, Ariz.; Andrew Crites, Lubbock; Abigail Crites and Leah Crites, Euless. Cousins, nephews and nieces also survive.
The family suggests memorial donations to The Everliving Church Trust of The First Methodist Church, Lubbock.
