Funeral Held for Grant Combs, Elderly Resident
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Lothair Old Regular Baptist Church for Grant Combs, 95, one of Perry County's oldest residents, who died Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Mary Hospital. Officiating was the Rev. Sam Combs of Jeff.
The deceased had lived in Perry County most of his life. He was a retired farmer, logger, and landowner, who at one time owned most of what is now called Lothair. His wife, Susan, died on January 6th of last year, at the age of 87.
Survivors include 3 sons, Dewey, Grant and Hurst, all of Lothair; 3 daughters, Mrs. Cora Crutchfield, Hazard, Miss Mary Combs and Miss Bess Combs, both of Lothair; and one sister, Miss Alice Combs, Lothair.
Surviving also are 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Interment was in the Grant Combs Cemetery at Lothair with Engle Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.
