George Foster, who has been confined to his bed with consumption for the past four weeks, died at his home on Spring street last Saturday evening at 6 o'clock. He was 55 years of age, and having been in bad health and unable to work for some time, was in destitute circumstances and would have suffered but for the care of friends and McPherson Post, G.A.R. He served in the 154th Ind. Vols., and had applied for a pension. He had been divorced from his wife, but a few days previous to his death remarried her that he might leave the pension to her. The funeral was held at the residence on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. S.B. Town officiating. Saturday Evening Journal, December 6, 1884
