The funeral for Nikola J. "Margaret" Barton , 59, of 389 Hurley Road, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Memorial Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Mrs. Barton died Sunday at Massena Memorial Hospital. She had been ill with cancer.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was a physical therapy aide for more than 29 years at the former Potsdam Nursing Home.

Born March 31, 1946, in Nyssa, Ore., daughter of Nicholas and June Tyo VanZelf, she graduated from Massena High School in 1966.

She married James A. Barton on July 2, 1966, at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Massena with the Rev. Griffith J. Billmeyer officiating.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Kimberly Sue Toomey, Brasher Falls; a son and his wife, Nicholas J. and Genia, Bloomsburg, Pa.; a sister and her husband, Pauline and Larry Meunier, Cornwall, Ontario; a sister-in-law, Rosina VanZelf, Watertown, and four grandchildren.

A brother, Christian VanZelf, died before her.
