William Grove Deal came to California in 1849 with his wife Janetta who he married in 1837 in Friendship Maryland with their 5 children. He opened the 1st hospital in Sutter's Fort in Sacramento where he dealt with a Cholera epidemic. He then went to Nevada City, CA where he was the Rev. of the Methodist church. A son William Emory Fisk who always went by W.E.F. Deal went to Virginia City in Nevada Territory in 1863 where he was admitted to the bar and became very important in Nevada and CA. A daughter Janetta married Nathaniel Pettingell Brown who was the Editor of the Nevada City Transcript.
