Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, in St. George United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wash Belangia and the Rev. Joe Marchant officiating. Burial followed in St. George Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Byrd, Johnny Byrd, Russell Aycock, Ronnie Jackson, Dean Jackson and Wayne Infinger.
Mrs. Marchant was born September 24, 1923 in Reevesville, a daughter of the late Francis Lever Murray and Catherine Victoria Utsey Murray. She was a graduate of St. George High School and was a member of St. George United Methodist Church. She retired from St. George Health Care Center as a dietitian and she formerly owned and managed the Crystal Motel Restaurant in Fairfax for many years. She was preceded in death by a sister, Faye M. Jackson; and her grandson, Manuel Keith Steedley.
Surviving are her daughter, Elaine M. (Manuel) Steedley, of Bamberg; a son, Leonard Brian (Judy) Marchant, of Thompson, Ga.; two sisters, Juanita M. (James L.) Infinger and Gloria M. Byrd, both of St. George; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Crystal Steedley and her children, Sloane and Adam, Melissia (Brian) Cullpepper, and their children, Gracie and Baden, great-grandson, Jason Keith Steedley and his son Noah who is a great-great grandchild; stepgrandchildren, Brittany Johnson, Marcianne Aycock, Russell Aycock and Todd Marchant; stepgreat-great-grandsons, Trent and Brandon Marchant.
