Elmadie Frances Helton, daughter of Joshua and Clista Helton, was born in Indiana, October 30, 1862, and departed this life July 28, 1947, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 29 days.

When she was eight years old she moved with her parents to Illinois, then when she was twelve they moved to Nebraska.

In 1878 she was united in marriage to George William Sheets, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1898. to this union were born seven children, two of whom passed away in infancy, a son Clarence at the age of two years and a daughter, Verna Marian at the age of eleven months. In March, 1912, she was united in marriage to Archie A. Hawthorne.

She has been a member of the Methodist church for the past fifty years, her membership now being in the Methodist church in Warsaw, Missouri.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of Osceola, Missouri, and five sons: Elmer L. Sheets of La Junita, Colorado; Cecil of Superior, Nebr.; Carl of Toppinish, Washington; Irvin of McCleary, Washington; and Herbert of Wichita, Kansas; twenty-steven grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren, two step grandchildren: Archie Redinger and Mary Redinger Yates of Osceola, Mo., who made their home with her for a number of years; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Deveney of Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Maggie Crary of Guide Rock, Nebr.; and Mrs. Genia Tillberry of Longmont, Colorado, one brother, J.R. Helton of Bladen, Nebraska; and a host of friends.

The words of Fredrik L. Hosmer in his poem are a comfort in this hour:

Father, to Thee we look in all our sorrow,
Thou art the fountain whence our healing flows;
Dark through the night, Joy cometh with the morrow;
Safely they rest who in Thy love repose.

The funeral services were held at the Zulauf Funeral Home in Superior, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Clarence V. Powell, pastor of the Nelson Methodist church was in charge of the services and he was assisted by Mrs. Powell.

Grave-side services were held at the Lawrence cemetery, where it was her request to be laid to rest beside her father.

Pallbearers were six of the grandsons: Gordon Sheets, Reece Bishop, Henry Hastings, Floyd Meyer, Gerald Whiteley and Wayne Collins.
